Since removing the clear waitlist option, shops are running into issues where they can't remove items from waitlists in bulk so the item is removed from the customer facing waitlist to cut back on emails/questions. (AS advises against deleting product or removing from waitlists for reporting purposes) Shops report customers reaching out frequently inquiring about restocks on items that can't be re-ordered. They are spending time replying to emails notifying the customer it's a seasonal item/OOS from vendor, etc which takes away time from more important tasks.
Ideally, adding a mark vendor OOS option on the drop down menu on the waitlist tab- which prompts a warning before action is confirmed stating it will hide the product from the current customers waitlist AND this product can’t be added to future waitlists. Action should be used for products that are gone forever, so the shops reporting is still accurate but product hidden from customer end.
Things that would also go hand in hand with this option--
-After marking an item OOS, a pop up asking shop owner if they want to send an email to those on waitlist that the product was removed from being visible on their waitlist because it's an item that can't be restocked. The email to be optional and customized to shop owner verbiage
-Having a place to archive these OOS products on the PRODUCT TAB so the shop owner can view all in stock items. (Function like the 'hide' option on waitlist tab, where they can filter these products in or out depending on preference)
