Coastal Bloom Boutique would benefit from loyalty on SCANNED ITEMS ONLY, creating a sense of spontaneity on live shows.

There is some great feedback in this feature request that are great ideas for the future too!
Doc Adams
I'd like to see 3 caveats:
#1 Loyalty points ONLY get awarded if a customer pays for a cart within the first hour. This would kill two birds with one stone, and really push customers to checkout fast.
#2 Loyalty points/dollars will expire from an account if the customer lets a certain number of items expire from their cart.
#3 Any incentives with a time limit. Example, customer must use loyalty points/dollars within 60 days or they will expire.
I think it's important to remember that a Loyalty program is not about giving away free money, it's more about having a tool to retain and guide your customer behavior.

Doc Adams: great ideas!
Only allowing for loyalty redemption for fast checkouts is a really neat idea! Using the loyalty to guide behavior is a great idea in general. I suspect we'll do a first version without these and can add them as we iterate.
Brittany Rust
Doc Adams: LOVE all of these ideas!!

Doc Adams: oh my word! Loyalty points on orders for first hour checkout is the greatest idea! I love that!

A little teaser - what do you all think for a v1?

Brandon Kruse: would it be possible to make it so people could not redeem rewards or earn rewards when using shop credit/discount codes?
Also, if someone redeems their reward does it show as shop credit or a coupon code? Just curious how returns would work.
Lorie Thomas
Brandon Kruse: AMAZING!!!! I was just talking to Rebecca Canzius about this and if the emails be customizable to tell people basically why the account credit was being added. #BYEBYESHOPIFY
Brandon Kruse
Kinsey Petri: great question - the customer will ONLY get credit on NEW money into the system. So they will not get loyalty credit when using account credit but they still would on discounts
So if it was $50 and 50% off they paid $25 then they'd get $25 * $loyalty_percentage in account credit
If you were doing a large sale, you could just turn off loyalty rewards during that time too!
Brandon Kruse
Lorie Thomas: that is great to hear!! YES!! Thank you for the ideas!
Christina Byrne
Brandon Kruse: I’m not sure if I’m alone on this but I’d prefer if the reward is $10 for every $200 spent that they don’t get the money until it hits the $10/$200, is that possible? I think customers won’t get as excited seeing a few cents here and a few cents there 🙂
Autumn Ferguson
Brandon Kruse: will these earned funds be non-refundable?

The Barn Boutique
Christina Byrne: Brandon Kruse I agree with Christina. I can't wait for the Loyalty Program...however, it's not sitting well with me either for customers to see/read that they have a few cents waiting for them as credit. Also, I prefer them to not be able to use the 'Loyalty Credit' until it has reached the $10 or more amount....might encourage them to make more purchases?? :)

Brandon Kruse: This is pure Awesomeness!!!! This could really help boutiques. Thank you CS for all your amazing work. Merry Christmas

I like the concept, but it won't work for me. I can only do a free piece ($5.30) for every 12 they purchase ($63.60) - not including shipping. Not sure how this would be able to be calculated.

What is everyone's thoughts on the following:
We are working on referral program actively now, but looking at this to followup immediately after. What about if it was a flat % as account credit set to start with? If so, we could do that immediately
For example, you can set the loyalty % to 1%
It's essentially like 1% cash back
After ANY purchase, the customer would immediately get an email saying "Congratulations on your loyalty reward!" - "You have received $0.55 as an account credit that's available immediately"
We are struggling with the concept of "points" because there are a lot of variations that can get really tricky and have lots of potential for abuse
Thanks!
Kate Treacy
Brandon Kruse: that works for us!

Brandon Kruse: I'm more interested in a referral program. If you do institute a loyalty program, we might use it sparingly.
Brooke Howerton
Brandon Kruse: we would utilize that for sure!

This could work! And we can change the percentage as we want?

Brandon Kruse: interested in what the referral one would be but this also sounds interesting too!
Heather Frawley Brown
Brandon Kruse: How would refunds work?
Erin Craft
Brandon Kruse: and this would be for the life of the customer account? So say, Sarah refers Alexis. Does Sarah get that percentage for every order Alexis places forever? Just curious and making sure I understand.
Whitney Coleman
Brandon Kruse: I don't have any kind of rewards so this works great as an option

Brandon Kruse: I love this!

Brandon Kruse: yes this will work, it’s atleast something I can give back to my customers. And we could change the percentages for certain sales and promos!!
Brandon Kruse
Thank you all for the feedback!!
The loyalty program percentage would be editable to whatever you want, yes. Eventually we will do points, but for the first stab, we thought this could be a cool way to see how your customers like it and how you like it!
The referral program details can be seen here, as it's a separate task and much more involved (each customer gets a unique coupon code that they can share with friends and "win" credit each time a NEW customer purchases for the first time): https://commentsold.canny.io/feature-requests/p/offer-a-friend-referral-code-discount-program

Brandon Kruse: I know you hate this timeline question but I have a separate rewards program I was going to launch to my gals Jan 1... should I hold off and wait on this?

Brandon Kruse: would it be possible to make it so people could not redeem rewards or earn rewards when using shop credit/discount codes?
